Duffy's is a sports bar and if you live in the Deerfield Beach neighborhood nearby, then you know that the Roadhouse is a good neighbor. They close at 11PM, and they don't have loud music that disrupts the neighborhood.
That's likely to change after Duffy's comes to town. When I spoke to the CEO by telephone on Tuesday, I was informed that Duffy's Sports Grill will close as late as the law allows. In our community, the law still says that 2AM on weekdays and 3 AM on Saturday night/Sunday morning is permissible.
Anyone reading this remember the Dragon Club? Fortunately, that was gone by the time I moved in, but the traffic, drug deals, drunken wanderers urinating in people's yards have not been forgotten by many who were here to experience that.
The neighborhood has a new generation of children now, and their parents are concerned. What happens next, and what can we do? We need to find out how we can either change the zone in this particular area. If that's not possible, we need to see how difficult it would be to change the law about the closing time.
In the meantime, I'm going to continue talking with the CEO and owners of Duffy's in order to appeal to their sense of community.
News about the change is brand new, so this page is in it's infancy. As the information is gathered, updates will become available here, immediately.
We need to work together on this to make sure we don't have a repeat of the Dragon Club.
